On February 16, the Science and Technology Innovation Program at the Woodrow Wilson Center, Global Health Initiative, Inc., and the National Defense University will host a forum and webcast examining the role of social networks for preventing, responding to and managing large-scale crises. The discussion will focus on how governments and other institutions can leverage the power of intelligent social networks to proactively engage citizens in democratic processes and to enhance resilience and sustainability in extreme crises.

Moderated by Michael McDonald, DrPH., President of Global Health Initiatives, Inc., a panel of experts will share their expertise and recent research on the nature of these emerging “Web 3.0 Resilient Systems.” Panelists include: David Kaufman, Director of Policy and Program Analysis, FEMA; David Alberts, Former Director, Command and Control Research, DoD; and Dr. Linton Wells, III, Director of the Center for Technology and National Security Policy, National Defense University.

After the program, panelists will take questions from the audience and from our online viewers via Twitter, the U.S. Resilience System forums (http://us.resiliencesystem.org/forum), and email at ***@***.***.  Participants may follow the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #Crisis30.
