Protesters gather around the world for Million Mask March

Demonstrations in more than 400 cities were planned to coincide with Guy Fawkes Day, with Russell Brand at a London protest.  Russell Brand: we deserve more from our democratic system

Protesters wearing the white-faced Guy Fawkes masks that have become synonymous with the Occupy movement and the hacktivist grouping Anonymous have taken part in hundreds of gatherings around the world in opposition to causes ranging from corruption to fracking.

One year after Superstorm Sandy hit the eastern United States, local, state, and federal agencies as well as community groups and businesses are working to strengthen the U.S.s resilience to future disasters. A National Research Council (NRC) release notes that the NRC has issues a series of studies and reports, and has put together workshops and study groups, which should advance the national conversation on preparedness and resilience.

IEEE Green Technologies Conference Extends Call for Papers on Current & Emerging Renewable Energy Sources & Clean Energy Technologies 

WASHINGTON (4 November 2013) -- IEEE Green Technologies Conference (GREENTECH 2014) organizers have extended the call for papers on topics related to green technology, renewable energy and clean technology to 8 November.

 Accepted papers will be presented during the sixth-annual conference (http://ieeegreentech.org/), 3-4 April 2014, at the Omni Corpus Christi (Texas) Hotel. They will be published in a conference proceedings CD and available through the digital library IEEE Xplore.

After six years of work, a week-long final review session in Stockholm, invloving more than 200 scientists from 39 countries, the UN's influential scientific body IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), which is investigating climate change, released a 36-page summary of their latest work.

Gradually, the IPCC will make public four volumes of additional reports and suggestions to policy makers. Somewhat surprisingly, the report was not treated as "breaking news" by the mainstream media. There are several reasons for this.
