Chikungunya (pronunciation: \chik-en-gun-ye click to hear pronunciation) virus is transmitted to people by mosquitoes. The most common symptoms of chikungunya virus infection are fever and joint pain. Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash.

Mosquito-Borne Chikungunya Virus Confirmed in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS - A virus transmitted by mosquitoes has been found in Indiana, health officials confirmed Monday.
An Allen County resident tested positive for the chikungunya virus, which has been found in Africa, Asia and islands in the Indian and Pacific oceans.
Officials said the Allen County resident recently traveled to the Caribbean.
