Reports released on efforts to improve vaccination efforts in Black and Hispanic communities in four states

Primary tabs

September 15, 2021 - The CommuniVax Coalition, which is led by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Department of Anthropology at Texas State University, released 4 new local reports that share findings from local rapid research within Black and Hispanic/Latino communities in Alabama, California, Idaho, and Maryland.

The new reports, produced by the local CommuniVax teams, highlight the urgent need to humanize delivery and communication strategies for COVID-19 vaccines, develop better and heterogenous messaging, and anchor COVID-19 vaccination efforts in hard-hit communities in a holistic “whole person” recovery process.

Each report shares research findings for the local communities and identifies targeted actions that their community leaders should take to address not only access and hesitancy issues in the current vaccination rollout, but also to build systems for lasting public health and community change.
